Hello,
I just picked up a boat with a 61' lark III attatched to it. It is a non-tiller model and possibly has not been used since 1998 (last sticker on boat). What should I do to it before I try to start it up??....It has good comperssion, I have not checked for spark. It is an electric start model (or pull)....does the key need to be turned on for it to fire...If so...there is no key...how do you bypass??

Thanks
jason

The key must be turned to the on position for sparks. This disconnects the two small black wires from each other. If you wish to disable the stop switch at the outboard itself, disconnect and isolate the small black wires that run up under the flywheel.

Do not operate the engine like that though as the vaccum cutout switch on the side of the motor must be connected for safe operation. It really is very important.

Thanks for the reply...I guess I will disconnect the wires to see if it fires.
