I've been looking into getting manuals for my outboards. The library has the Clymer and Seloc manuals. So does Half.com and Ebay. I hear the Seloc manuals arent the best. But the question is: who publishes the best manuals for older Evinrude/Johnson? Do you have to get a year-specific manual to get a good manual that covers everything adequately? Winter wont be long in coming and I'll be wanting to dig into my outboards. But I want good manuals since I havent done this kind of thing before.

Go to www.kencook.com, Ward.

OMC published the best manuals to service OMC products. Ken Cook has licensed reprints.

Don't waste your time with aftermarket manuals on an OMC. Get the licesnsed reprints or find them on E-bay. The aftermarket manuals cover far too many models to do a decent job.
