evinrude mechanical issues, ignion coil problems ?

hello everyone, i have a 1975 evinrude 70hp. this motor doesnt seem to be kicking out enough power. all 3 cylinders have 110 lbs of compression.
i tested the ignition coils by unplugging the wires from each spark plug while the engine was running. the first two i pulled off, the engine idled down but the third one i could not pull off because i received a pretty good shock. is that an indication my ignion coil could be faulty ? please repy, thankyou ! ~ larry

Could be, a shock off one of those engine's usually makes you feel like your feet were welded to the driveway.

you are suppose to use insulted pliers, the kind with the rubber on the handles.

i tried that, those pliers are in the bottom of the lake now !

How high in the air did those pliers go before they hit the water? Sounds like the coil could be OK.
