Evinrude Norseman 40 hp

I have an old Evinrude Norseman 40 HP on a boat that I have just purchased and am wanting to know the correct fuel mix,I have been told 25:1,is this correct

I've never heard of an Evinrude Norseman as an outboard motor. They did make a snowmobile by that name - any chance you have incorrect information on the name?

Norseman is definately a snowmobile. In fact, its the only reason I opened this thread. I wish I still had our old 1972 35 hp.

The 40 hp entered the line up in 1960. Officially, the 1960-1963 motors need 24:1 premix. After that is 50:1. Post your model number and we can tell you the year.

In 1971, The Evinrude 40 was called a Ski-Twin
In 1972, It was renamed a Norseman. Had a new hood shape.
1973, Norseman
1974, Norseman
1975, Norseman
1976, Just plain Evinrude 40

All are 50:1

OK, now I am curious - we have established that this is a snowmobile so how is it "on the back of your boat?"

I don't think it is a snowmobile. Evinrude named all of their outboards until the mid seventies.

They had all kinds of names: Lightwin, Ducktwin, Fleetwin, Fisherman, Skitwin, Starflight (V-4's), Triumph (3-loopers), the list goes on and on.

I seem to recall the "Norseman" as a 40 HP.

Norseman is also a snowmobile. We had one.

As FR said, Evinrude made a Norsemen 40hp outboard in the early 70's and it was 50:1.

I have just discovered that the 40hp twin on my boat is a Norseman. so they definitely have this as an outboard motor,

My 1974 price list shows a 40 hp Norseman.
