Hi,

My questions is, I will be leaving my boat in the water the rest of the summer, something I never did before, Should I leave the motor/Lower Unit tilted all the way out of the water or leave it in the down position... I would like to leave it in the Up position so I wont have the build up of algie etc. I want to know if this will cause added wear or strain on the Hydraulics and possible lockup of the tilt motor? Thanks Russ

I would keep the motor tilted up when not in use. Only time to leave it in the water is if temperatures are sub zero which could cause fractures in casing due to residual water freezing and expanding.

Raise the motor and then lower it and let it rest on the tilt lock lever. This will take the strain off the hydraulics...

Re: Evinrude Outboard Tilt Motor question

If I use the Tilt lock bracket, the Lower Unit still sits beneath the water. Will in time corrode the lower unit with barnacles etc...
