hopefully this little bit of info will help someone out there that is having the same problem i was....

i rescently replace my powerhead on my 1995 88 spl and when doing so i noticed that the small vacuum lines where cracked on the ends.so i cut off the bad ends and put them back on good as new,so i thought.every sinse replacing the phead my motor did not like to idle for more than a min or 2,i was like WTH this is a brand new motor why will it only ide for a couple mins then die and almost every time i would have to choke it to restart.....

the other day i went and bought the correct vacuum lines and replaced them all,and every 1 that i took off was split on 1 end or the other due to old age.after replacing them my motor runs like a sewing machine...hope this lil bit of info will help someone else!

Interesting! Thanks for the tip (and a "cheap fix" to)!

Re: evinrude outboard

Like you stated the motor was new (rebuilt) but those vacuum hose sure weren't. Too many times we all assume things to only find out we need to check them instead. Good post to remind all of us to be more vigilant when assuming things couldn't possibly be bad or the key to our problem... I still do too much of that myself...
