Could someone help me out please? I have a 2000 Evinrude 225 ram and also have a 98 200 Evinrude. The ram is junk of course but the 98 200 has a bad piston. Could I use a piston out of the ram engine? I know the bore is the same, the only difference I see is the top of the Pistons looks a little different. The ram piston has a relief machined in the top to allow for the injector and of course the 200 carbureted piston has a slight dome. Any help would be appreciated.

Not worth gambling.---Get the correct part.-----Lot of work to get a piston out of one of these monsters.

Racerone, thanks for the advice but already tore both engines down. I'm fairy good with a wrench. Have built many engines. I was just curious if they were close enough to work. But I agree I most likely will get the correct Pistons. Thanks

Not it will not work as the 1998 is a carb engine and Ram is DFI.....If the 98 has a bad piston is likely to have a bad cylinder wall also.

Ficht Pistons had a different Crown than the Carb Loopers. That 'Relief' is a dish designed to cause Turbulence for the Fuel being Injected thus Aiding the Combustion Process at low RPM with Ficht. How it will affect the Cylinder Charging in a regular looper? WHo knows, but since you are putting all the effort ot fix your engine, why not Do It Right?
