Evinrude Power Pilot won't go in reverse!!! Please Help!!!!

I have a 1977 75 hp Evinrude, that will go into reverse manually, But when I use the throttle it only goes just back far enough so that the engine will start. I have forward but i can not move the throttle in reverse. I think the problem is in the control box, but when I opened it everything looked fine and the bushings were not loose. Hopefully this all makes sense. Do I need a knew control box? I am stumped Please help me!!

Is the release in the throttle handle working correctly ?

Yes. I took the handle off and the release works fine! So its not that. Any other ideas?

Sounds like something is still messed up in the control box then.

Yes. When I looked at the box i couldn't find anything. Do you know what part that allows it to go in reverse, That might be broken that I am just not seeing?
