evinrude question

Does my 1986 30hp electric start outboard have an alternator? If not how do I keep the cranking battery charged? Also does anybody know how many pounds the flywheel nut must be cranked to?

it is hard for me to say if it had a gen on it but i am sure you could buy one for it if there is one on there it would have a belt going from the flywheel to the gen

Dan,If you have two wires, one red and one
black, running from the motor to the battery, you probably have a charging system. On a 30 HP it probably puts out 4 Amps or less.
DHP
