I’ve got a 1985 Evinrude 50 HP VRO (previous owner removed the VRO), model E50BELCO that appears to be running rich on the top carb at idle.
The engine runs great when above idle. However, when idling, particularly in the water, it runs ok but sputters and knocks off. It’s hard to start afterwards and it seems like it may be flooded. (Have to crank for a while without priming to get it to fire, if I do prime it after it knocks off, it doesn’t start at all and oily sheen appears on water.)
Also, after taking the air silencer off of the carb today while idling on the stand, I noticed fuel spitting out of the top low idle jet.
How do I adjust the low idle mix on these carbs, if rich at idle is in fact the issue?
Thanks in advance.
