I have a 1985 30 horse tiller handle Evinrude that I was trying to make a little easier to use on my jon boat. It shifts fine on the side but it is hard to navigate tight places having to turn around all the time to shift. Is there a way to rig a shifter rod on this tiller motor so I at least don't have to turn around to reach the shifter? I have been toying with stianless rod with a handle to make a push pull type paddle shifter for it but thought I would check with the pros. Also I was thinking about putting some gauges in my boat to monitor water pressure as well as temperature. That way I know if my impeller fails or motor is running hot. Thanks.

No, I am just seeing if there is an easier way to get to my shifter without always turning around. I run alot of rivers and you have to be ready with the reverse, so it is not always easy to turn around to get to the shift lever.

just add a simple controller, and still use the tiller to steer,
