Thank you everybody for your response to my problem,I think I fixed it with a sheet metal screw,I took it apart and the little plasic tab on the end of the tube that connects to gearing when you crank on the handle that tab pushes the slotted tube in clock wise motion to advance throttle, I put the screw in and now it works, if you cant tell by now Im new to boat motors, but Im hooked, one more thing is it possible to put electric start on this motor,1955 15hp 15014 evinrude if so what parts would I need? and can I put a mechnical fuel pump on too, to do away with presure tank, thanks Brian

Re: Evinrude tiller handle fixed

The '55 15 did not have the electric start option but the '56 did. But I'm not sure if the same kit will fit on the '56, I would think it would. Others will hopefully have more experience at it and let you know. As for adding a fuel pump and single line tank, read the top thread in this forum, it explains how to do it. And search the forum, many others have done it.
