I had to remove my rectifier because it was leaking a sort of goo out of the back and ordered another one...shortly after this my trim stopped working. I assumed that the goo had gotten into the relay sockets right next door, so I removed the hole relay harness to do a real good cleaning when I found 2 black wires with terminal lugs that were not attached to anything...are these both grounds maybe grounded to the rectifier mounting screws? Do they not need to be installed at all? It was working good before the rectifier goo incident. Thanks in advance

Boobie, I'm sorry I'm fairly new at this...I have no actual model numbers...just a 1977 evinrude 70hp, all the numbers have been painted over
Emd, it very well could be for the gauge and why they werbt connected ( no gauge)

not sure what other pictures may help, the middle one is showing the relay block with the two mysterious black wires and the last one is the entire harness, let me know if you need any others and i can take them this afternoon

There's a plug on the block about the size of a quarter. Post any # 's you find on that.

Found the issue....went the long way around but learned a lot....the 2 wires just need to be grounded and system works great
