I need to replace the trim motor on a 1995 Evinrude 175. My question is how do I get to the back bolt that seems to be buried?

Gotta pull the motor and split the clamps apart. Well, that's the easiest way to do these, you might not "have" to but it makes it simple, stupid simple. Ot only takes 10 minutes to hang the motor and loosen the 4 transom bolts.

Need to do it with boat in the water. Do not want to take it out to do this job.

You need motor out of water to service. Once out you don't have to split anything. Should have Fastrac trim, just remove snap rings on upper/lower tilt pins, tilt motor up and put on tilt lock, knock pins outs, remove plastic oil tank and lift whole assy out after unwiring power and ground wires. Repair or install new motor and reassemble. About 1.5 hrs if you have all parts and tools in hand.
