Its VERY difficult to tell an error by just looking at a motor, or hearing the story, and the first we people ask is: how much ?<br /><br />If you dont want to repair yourselves, spend the 30 bucks and you will know - its cheap. From your story is sounds as you already are a good part of the way. I would jump into it, buy the carb rebuild kits ( it sounds like your friend need more fuel ) and rebuild the carbs Very carefully. If you want to know more about motor worth first, borrow a gauge and do a compression test, you will know if the really spendy repairs are waiting around the corner then. Good luck
Hey everybody I am new to the list and need some answers.<br /><br />My engine will run with the best of them on certain days and others not at all. I noticed my 3 coils were cracked and replaced them. After this it ran like a champ idled and rn no problems. Next week it busts off and that was it for the day. I twould try to bust off and would last 2 seconds and die. I smelled a lot of gas at the time. My friend and I took another look and found out the rectifier was toast had it replaced. Now it will run only when I keep choking it now for maybe 45 sec or less. Looked at the carbs and flushed the bowls all looked clear. Checked fuel hoses and found one that was collapsed and fixed it. Still runs a little at a time. I was told by 2 factory dealers that these are possible problems:<br />CARB overhaul, fuel pump, stator winding, ignition wiring, check compression, water pump. Then if the motor itself needs overhauling I am looking at $2,500.00. Too rich for this poor boy! ANY SUGGESTIONS??
