Bad bearing or prop cavitation. Was the prop under water? Are all the pieces of the prop intact?

Only hearing it under load makes me think more along the lines of a bearing issue. Spin the prop by hand and listen and feel for anything that doesn't feel quite right.

Also remove prop and check for fishing line underneith it. That happens ppretty commonly, but usally doesn't produce a squeeling noise.

No fishing line.Last year it started to do the same thing and I was able to take the prop off and work some grease where the prop shaft goes into the motor and it stopped for a little while. If it is a bearing, do you get at it from the front(prop end) or do you have to go from the back and take it all apart? Is a bearing easy to replace?
Thanks

The manual I have covering most 90's models states that if the bearing is bad either the front or rear bearing you must replace the assembly, ie. the front or end cap complete as it appears the bearing is non removable. I have never done this so would check with a good parts supplier to ensure that this is the case.
