I have an Evinrude 120 model e120tlcem. i just bought this boat (89 stratos 279fs)and dont know a whole lot about it yet. when i tried to hook up the battery leads for the motor, the motor started to tilt forward and the motor (tilt) would not stop. i tried to lower the motor and it will not, even if i hold the button, it may kick in and start down but not often. any suggestions on where to start tracking this problem....
also...... this boat has been out of service for many years. what steps do i need to take to get it water ready again??...i cleaned the tanks, purged the lines (fuel). oil changes is next on my list.....forgetting anything???
thanks for the help

Re: Evinrude trouble

First things first and that's a manual. The tilting sounds like a stuck solenoid or switch and you'll need a wiring diagram to deal with that. You'll also need to replace the waterpump and probably clean and rebuild the carburetors.
You can get a generic manual here at iboats. Look up at 'Helpful Links' and click on 'Manuals' or you can get a factory manual from Ken Cook Co.

Ken Cook Co.

g'luck & c/6
Hooty
