I have a 1988 Evinrude model VE14RCCS that needs a new carb. When I go looking for parts they have early or late production carburetors. How can I tell if mine is early or late production? Will either carb fit?

By looking at it and comparing it with the diagrams in the parts lists at http://epc.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E&s1=30bc8c24-0a89-4f16-ac6e-981046e633ad

Any 9.9/15 carb from ‘74-‘92 should bolt on and work fine. Try to find a 15 carb without plastic top (earlier production ‘74-‘88). 9.9 carb will restrict max fuel/air flow resulting in lower rpm’s compared with 15 carb.
