I posted this once before but had no replies so here goes someone must have an idea!

Need advice on year of evinrude 50hp, the stickers say its a Evinrude 50Hp VRO but this VRO system has been removed, its a 2 stroke twin cylinder and has the following numbers that i can see,the plate on the mounting bracket is not readable so i have no model number.

C1100949 - this is on a round tag set into the block
326100 - this is stamped into the block
322898-2 - this is stamped into the cylinder head

Is there any other numbers or markings on the engine that could give me a clue?

There are a lot of 'M' symbols stamped on the components is this normal? is it an evinrude? is it 50hp?

Engine works great just want to know a little about it, Need to know what it is and what year for parts/manual

I would be greatful for any info on this engine.

ALSO - i have just dismantled the top cover and it looks like there should perhaps be an air filter in there? There isnt one at the moment, any ideas?

Cheers

Rich

Re: Evinrude Year Required - Help!

From a quick survey of this board, it seems that that serial number was used around 1986. It could be 1985 though.

The square with the M in it was the symbol for OMC, the parent company of Johnson and Evinrude. So you'll see lots of their symbols on engine parts.

Air filters are not used on outboards, since the water they run in acts as a giant filter for dust. So no, your engine should not have an air filter in it. The cover is simply an intake silencer.
