I have just resurrected an old Evinrude 4HP (1988) 2-cylinder 2-stroke which a friend found at the back of a garage. Fortunately it was mainly a carb rebuild and I didn't have to take the the flywheel off to get to the magneto.
This engine is powerful enough to make my SiB plane, hence I would like to fit a kill switch/cord.
I understand I will need to get to the magneto which entails taking off the flywheel for which I would need a 'puller'. Anyone have details of what puller I would need?
To kill the engine I think I will need to ground the points. When I get to the magneto where would I have to attach a wire(s?) in order to ground the points? What sort of voltage would this wire need to carry? This wire would then go to a kill switch/cord; the other switch wire connection would then need to grounded back on the engine somewhere (suggestions?).
Thanks for any help - or a picture would be great
