The Bombardier outboards have been next to bulletproof. It was the 150-175 FICHTS of 1998-99 that had the bad reputation. 2000 and later models were good, but Bombardier made them better. There is also a 7 year extended warranty promotion going on for new 2003-2004 outboards of 40hp and above.
