if the seawater pump is in good shape then suspect your manifold or elbow.
all the water in wont help if it cannot get out.
is the engine raw water cooled or fresh water cooled ?
good luck and keep posting

Do you have an exhaust leak where the tears are?If you do the exhaust pushes the water through and will create overheating. There will not be enough pressure. You can also check the seal on the intermeadate drive to make sure that is okay and not sucking air.

Just to clarify, exactly how did you test 'both' pumps? It may be an important clue to your overheating problems.

Aldo

the exuast is leaking , water at that,
part 2 both pumps are pushing, why would the exaust leak make it run hot?

P.S. thanks for the help guys

Re: exaust bellow making me run hot?????

Matt, from your description the water is leaking at the end of the manifold, from that point it only cools the exhaust pipe that exits the transom. It is not the cause of your engine overheating unless there is a bad restriction down stream in the exhaust. The exhaust hose needs to be fixed but if you want to diagnose the overheating problem we need more info so we can help.

I'm in Australia and I know down here we get different models to our northern cousins but I've never heard of or seen an AQ125B with a circulation pump, only a raw water pump. How did you test the 'pumps'?

If the raw water pump was working to its full capacity your bilge would fill up very quickly through the holes in your exhaust hose, is this happenning?

Aldo

Matt, Had almost the same problem and I fixed the leak and the engine ran cooler than it ever did.I think the pressure from the exhaust helps move the water the pump brings in and more water moved better cooling. So a leak will slow that process down.Get a new hose see what happens.
Dunaruna has more exsperance with these monsters than I.Explian what you mean by two pumps because there should only be one that I know of as well.
Good luck

There are 2 pumps, one is the raw water pump in the outdrive and the other is the re-cirulation pump in the engine,,, most likely your raw water pump is shot.........

Flashback, are we talking about the same drives? 270 Volvo Penta outdrives DO NOT have raw pumps in the leg.

Aldo

Re: exaust bellow making me run hot?????

No it doesn't, and that's one problem i see here and there. Because the pump is mounted on the motor the drive is basically a big straw. The seals where the drive pivots for steering leak and break that suction. As you know, when sucking on a straw all it takes is a minor hole and you get no soda. If i were Matt i think i would check the manifolds for a clog...

the impeller looks to be fine, and when i went to check my thermostat i turned the motor over and it pumped coolant out. i,m thinking its the manifold. How can you clean it? The boat had set up for a while before i bought it.
