I know this kind of post has been discussed before but here goes. I'm shopping for new exhaust for my 1988 Bayliner 2556 with an OMC 260.
I posted before about converting to center rise exhaust and everyone pretty much agreed it was a good idea.
So with this in mind I've noticed serveral conversion kits. Some of the kits are EDP coated, is this worth it?
The other question involves the disparity in prices. Coated older Volvo systems are $100-200 lower than Barr or Osco kits for OMC and I see no difference in their appearance. If I have to adapt my Y-pipe from log to center rise why can't other systems (i.e. Mercruiser, Volvo) be used or is there that much difference in the hook ups. I know that OMC log type systems used a different size pipe but I've found that there is a pipe to convert 4" risers to 3 1/2" pipes when using the center rise conversions.
Helpful information please.
