I have a 1986 225, have been fighting to get it to idle half way decent and not stall, I put carb kits in, replaced all gas line and clamps, and synced linkage, it starts good but I can't seem to control idle, it wanders up and down, there is some play in linkage but not real bad,now it sneezes or backfires through exhaust. According to the manual the idle is set by adjusting the screw that leads back to the timing advance, is this right ? does anyone know what the timing should be at idle ? 1986 225VRO,mode-lJ225PTXCDA SN-G7201311 ( it runs great at 2000 rpm and up )
