my clamp on the exhaust bellow is scraping on the pivit point located on the bell housing leaving a grove in the metal. Is there a certain location the clamp should be? the clamp is centered on the bottom. It almost seems the drive is lowering to far but I kinda doubt that.I don't know much about this matter. Please help!...... mercruiser alpha one lx 1996 model exhaust boot

Re: exhaust bellow clamp

Put it where it says in the manual. there are more reasons than just rubbing. Some clamps can be broken and cut a new bellows when put in the wrong place.

BUT, since we have no clue what you are working on, don't expect any exact answers.

If I had a manual I would'nt be on here just asking a question, as to where it should be located. I am no mechanic and am not trying to be. I had it installed by bass pro shops two years ago the clamp just started rubbing yesterday. I am just wondering if they put the clamp on at the wrong spot. the clamp is not broken.

Re: exhaust bellow clamp

the screw on the clamp should be on top where you can access it through the hole on the gimbal housing on the port side.
