Exhaust discharge

I pulled the Stingray out of the workshop, getting it ready for the summer. I connected my waterhose to the water supply connection on the engine, and it started right up.

Here's the question. While it was running, most of the water discharge from the outdrive was leaking/blowing down near the transom. Very little was coming out the center of the prop and again, very little coming out of the discharge ports.

Do I have a bad exhaust bellows?

Do you have a bellows or exhaust tube? Was the drive all the way down? Some bellows have drain holes in them.

Its a bellows and I'm pretty certain it has drain holes. The drive was almost all the way down.

Sounds normal, when my 2004 5.0L SX Outdrive is idling on muffs most of the water comes out near the bottom of the transom shield. Even at the lake when I'm idling in neutral most of the exhaust is coming out there. Put it in gear and give the engine a bit of throttle and you can see the exhaust start coming out of the prop hub.

If you shut everything off, and raise the drive up, you will see 2 ports about 1" in diameter. They are idle relief ports needed when the boat is in the water. When on muffs, it's quite common for all the water to come out of those ports. If you speed the engine up you will probably see some coming out the prop.
