Re: exhaust extension

Are you referring to modifying the exhaust ports? Yes in some cases having the ports reworked by a skilled mechanic and machine shop will allow more rpms.

Additional modifications such as milling the heads for more compression, larger carbs, new reed valves are also part of a sincerely exspensive formula.

You can post the question on http://forums.screamandfly.com/ and get some sound advice.

An additional modification is use of a setback plate (jack plate with setback) can also increase speed.

The best advice is instead of spending big $$$$ on an engine that is 27 years old I would consider re-powering. In the long run it will be cheaper.

Bob
