I did an impeller swap with the drive in the water. While removing the long bolts in the housing, a lot of air was escaping. Impeller looked ok on visual inspection. I reassembled and water pump worked only for a few minutes. EXHAUST GAS IS COMING UP THROUGH VENT TUBE AND CREATING AIR LOCK. Pump seems to work fine with vent tube removed. I replaced impeller and everything seems fine. Could this exhaust gas in vent tube cause premature impeller failure? Maybe it's because the drive was trimmed up all the way? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
