Surely someone out there has had this problem!! Trying to remove old manifolds off 302 inboard. Allen head bolts, several heads no longer exist; can't get anything on them or in them! To little space for grinding! Any thoughts? I await your assistance.

diegrinder with a carbide burr...

i've also torched heads off like that, but you need to be precise and quick if you want to not harm the manifold pocket surrounding the head....

you may also want to consider a set of twist sockets like these, saved my tail many a time..

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/pro_det.asp?P65=&tool=hand &item_ID=65855&group_ID=11664&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

if there is anything remotely resembling a head, these will bite and take them out.. i believe Sears sells a cheaper set...

Thanks for the quick response to both of you. I will see about a diegrinder first, for the three with no heads left. Still open for any other thoughts.

I would drill the stripped allen heads with a 1/4" drill. Then use a 1/4" reverse thread stud/bolt extractor to remove it.

Boiling Point 212, that is one of the options on my list, thanks for the input.
