Exhaust port

Wondering if someone can help me with the way my motor works. I have a 120 hp 1986 motor. I noticed today that there is water coming out of the top exhaust ports. This is at idle as i am driving and can not see when full out. Why is this?

Probably not exhaust 'ports' but exhaust relief holes on the leg?
Water will exit when thermostats open.
