Exhaust question

Good morning,I own a 96 27' fountain 502 with stock exhaust.The boat is in MINT condition,I wanted to get a bit more rumble out of it without spending a ton of money,QUESTION,,,,can I remove the baffles in the tips,thier are rubber flaps and thier is captains call on it.I guess I was concerned about back wash and hydroulic lock.Thanks very much,,,,Mike

What are the baffles made of? I would not remove the flapper, but do not see why you cant remove the baffles. My exhaust had baffles weld in so I used a plasma cutter and removed them.

Thanks for your response,I appreciate it,on the Fountain the exhaust is close to the water line under the swim platform,that is why i'm concerned about water entering up the pipe.Mine also are tack welded inside the tips at four points.It appears that thier may be a couple of baffles in a row in each tip.I'm boating in Long Island Sound so at anchor often thier are waves sloshing up under the platform.Any good advise would be great .Thanks ,Mike

It sounds just like mine. My tips came off of a baja and the baffles were a spiral desing welded in there, so cutting them out worked perfectly. I do not have flaps inside the tips, I have the rubber ones that clamp to the end of the tip.
