Hello, total newbie from Sweden. I have just bought a Phantom 24 CC (clone, built here in Sweden) with OMC 351 engine and Alfa 1 drive. In the current installation, the exhausts are routed through the stern above water. The sound is impressiv but I would like to be more discreet. Hence, I intend to route the exhuasts through the drive. Now here is my problem: Prices over here are insane! At least twice of what most engines and parts retail for in the US. Therefore I would like to now what the needed parts are called in english, i.e get a list of product names, from exhaust manifold to the shield (the shield is plugged, it's especially the pipe the goes into the plugged hole that I'm looking for). Also, the adress to a good web shop that carries the parts would be nice.

TIA

Carlin

Well TIA,
I'd Love to Help,
But,
There's No Way you have an OMC 351 ford.....
With a Mercruiser Alpha 1..........

It's Either an OMC, Or a Mercruiser............

Big Difference.......

The Mercruiser will be Easy to convert......
The OMC will be Alot Tougher..... They Don't Make Them Anymore........

Once we sort this issue out, Then We can Help..........

BTW, Welcome to the iboats forums.......

hello
its possible to have that combo if the last owner did some cobbling. that would explain why they did not use the original exhaust. with the alpha transom shield you will have to use merc manifolds and risers with the matching exhast y pipe and boots and elbows if required. try to pull a seriel # off the transom shield or at least post some info on the drive. I hate cobbled boats. warrented to cost twice as much cause if its a cobbler I stay on the time clock while researching parts. pictures of the engine and drive assy would be helpful

Re: Exhaust routing - Name the parts

Thank you for a quick reply. This boat is most defintly "cobbled" with... The builders/former owners are a father/son offshore racingteam. The OMC/Alfa 1 combo is actually quite common here and I already have a quote for the work. So I'm just looking for cheaper (original) parts. It sounds like the "exhaust y pipe" is the part name I'm looking for (It's a $1000 part here in Sweden...).

Carlin

hello
if you have OMC manifolds odds are they wont match up to the merc pipes. I think there is a height and width difference and that will be the reason for transom pipes.
measure carefully before ordering.1000 for the y pipe is very high :)

If you just want it quieter, how about some Super Traps? Check the Summit catalog.
