I know this an old blog but I have a 1977 mercruiser 470 that has the clip style shutter. I believe the shutter # 45586 is what is used for that year. Right now all that is remaining of the shutter is the bar, question I have is how doe you remove the bar to put in a new shutter. It kind of looks like a spring action by pushing in the sides but is very hard to get at, is a special tool needed. Need help on this as I have twin 470's and both have shutters missing.
