Exhaust shutter position

Are the exhaust shutters supposed to be open or closed when the engine is not running. Mine are open.

Depends on the type shutters you have.

This type would be normally open.

Thanks Don, that's the type I have. I thought they would be closed until exhaust pressure opens them. If open is normal then I'll keep going and get this engine up and running again.
