Any idea where I might be able to get an exhaust snout for a 1989 50hp. Half of mine sheared off last night in the water and the sites I am finding are listing them as Obsolete!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Exhaust Snout '89 50hp

Thank you. I did see those earlier today on ebay when I was looking. None of them seem to match up with the part number I have. OEM references it as FA435116. The ones on ebay are for higher horsepower outboards and appear to be bigger. If I measure and the bolt holes line up, does anyone have any experience with "retro" fitting them on...aka grind it until it fits? Jerry has expressed many times that the snout is necessary. Anyone running without? and what performance issues should I expect if I can't find/fit one?

Was not fun on the river last night with it slamming against the prop!

Jerry posted these salvage yards in another thread last night (or the other day). Regardless, pretty important information:

Have you tried asking this seller for the measurement and distance between the mounting holes? The part number seems to indicate a close match. Note the regular 85~150HP snouts starts with "5" with their part # or for the bigger ones starting with "7" series. This one starts with a "4" which is similar with the part # you are looking for. I would at least ask the seller for the measurements and maybe get lucky.

Re: Exhaust Snout '89 50hp

Thanks Guys, your help is greatly appreciated. Jiggz - i still need to measure the bolt distance on my outboard (this damn work thing is getting in the way of my fun!) Thanks for the info Scott. I got all the numbers and will be making lots of phone calls soon. Jerry - clarification: the higher HP snouts are smaller than the 50? One of the posts on Ebay does have a ruler next to it. My snout is in front of me, well half of it. Hard to measure it missing the bow end (flat end). My best bet will be to measure the inlay in the OB, and the the bolt distance, but can't get to it until tomorrow.

The 85/125 is bigger.
8 and 1/2 inches overall for the 85/125

Thanks Jerry-
Found one from a 50HP Force. Pine Lake Boat & Motor, Plainwell, MI (269)685-8690. Very courteous and says he has a ton of Force parts in his yard. Pass the word if you would.

Well Jiggzy, with all do respect, the name is Scott.

I gathered I could garner an immediate response from Medic61 so I could add to the list that JerryJerry posted (which I now have saved to my computer) for future reference and so that others may enjoy.

But first thing in the morning, I'll be sure to use your much needed advice  and get that information.

Re: Exhaust Snout '89 50hp

Now Now. Scott, this is the info I found. Made a lot of phone calls to the list from Jerry. Although all I call were helpful, no one had the part. I think it's a great thing that a list of places is kept. God knows these parts will just continue to become harder to find. Something from '89 "vintage"! I must be getting older by the day! By the way, everyone in this forum has been overly helpful...makes things a lot easier for us amateurs...

Good experience with Pine Lake Boat & Motor. Part arrived 5 days later and is an exact fit. Anyone out there looking for Force parts, give this guy a call.
