Are Exide dual purpose batteries any good on boats?

I dont know but I was looking at my Everstart I bought from Wal Mart back in December of last year and low and behold it's made by .... Exide.

Does it work ok? I just bought one for my Whaler and want to know if I wasted $130 Cdn. Not much choice where I live though - Canadian Arctic.

Have 2 that are 3 yrs old......2 that are 2 years old....and 2 that are 3 months old......US$74.00 All are starting batteries..

I'd take that you would be testing the cold start capabilities more than most. Some extra MCCA capacity over the normal engine requirements, would probably be a good thing.

Wow. I have 3 Everstarts that came with my boat. 2 are 5 yrs old and one is 6 yrs old and while I know they're due for replacement, they're still working quite well. Must be good batteries....???

My batts become 'due for replacement' when they don't work quite well. Until then, they're just as good as a comparable new one ...

I just recently upgraded my batteries to Vmax Charge Tanks and i am very happy. A bit more expenseve, but a very good AGM deep cylce battery. I am currently using the MR-127. Good luck.
