what is the normal life expectancy of a prop hub? what can you do to prolong or any maintenance that can be done to ensure optimal performance. Is there any visual indications that a hub is beginning to slip?

A lot has to do with what motor we're talking about. If you have one of the newer DFI motors that have pretty high exhaust temps it may burn the hub out quite easily if you're using the old style pressed in rubber cushion hubbed prop. If you're using a new style square bore prop you probably won't ever have any hub issues.

I see that your in South Texas. I would spray some 303 on the rubber or cover the prop if its outside. The sun and dry air may not ruin it but it will surely shorten its life. When a lived in Soutern AZ I could go through a set of lifetime wiper blades every 6 months.
