Experienced boater, but new to outboards

Hi all. I have owned a dozen or more boats and have been boating for 20 years. BUT, all of my boats have had inboard/outboards (car engines) and have been fiberglass sport cruisers. I am going to look at a pontoon tomorrow with a 1992, evinrude, 85hp, 2 stroke, oil injected out board. Is this a good motor as far as out boards go? Top of the line? Bottom of the line? I know to look at the general condition of the motor, and I plan on pulling the boat from the water after sea trial and checking the foot for signs of impact and to ensure there is no water in the gear oil.

Again, I know nothing about pontoons or outboards. Any useful ideas of things I sould check/look for would be appreciated!
