exploded view or pics 1980 80hp carb removal

My engine stalls the second i put it into gear. I want to clean the carbs before diving deeper into possibilities. It was badly abused by the former owner and sat for 5 years with nasty fuel in the system. I know my evenrude inside and out, but this thing...i have no clue how to remove the carbs...from the front is my best guess so far

Yes, you need to remove top and rear cowling support, and loosen or disconnect front cowl support. First thing is to disconnect electric plug. Also Remove starter. That should get you to where you can disconnect carb linkage and pull carbs.
