I started poking around my new to me 2005 four stroke 115 and found a male plug laying in starboard side of engine. Has pink, grey, orange and black wires. Any one know what the heck this is?
Engine runs fine.

depends on how and what its rigged with, at a minimum if its not used it should be capped with a cover plug.

it has trim/tilt and the 2 flat round Yamaha gauges. Not sure what more it could have?

Re: Extra plug in F115?

that engine can be rigged with command link, the late style 6y5 digital, the eairlier 6y5 digital as long as its 2 wire trim lead and 4 stroke compatible or yamaha analog. the wires are on the powerhead even if not used.
thats why I say depending on how its rigged and what its rigged with you may have an extra plug lead,or 2. however they should have a waterproof cap. if not take it back.
the 4 wire, pink, orange, black and gray connector would be used for trim signal send and overheat visual on older rigging components but not normally used if rerigged or a new package.
your description of your rigging is meaningless :). yamaha digital and command link are all avalible in round configuration .
I am rigging my F150 with square comand link. will post on how it goes as I am going to add all avalible rigging options to it just to see how they interface,
