I have an EZ loader trailer (circ. 1997) and one of the steel brake pipes has broken. I wish to flare the end of the pipe and fit a new connector but cannot get a flaring tool here in the UK which is small enough to do the job. Is there a certain size flaring tool you use in the USA so I may try and get one here.

Any decent autoparts store has a few flaring tools. You may want to try Autozone, PepBoys, or one of the many online autoparts places.

you can buy a kit with all NEW lines for about 45 dollars

I would go NEW as i am sure it is rusted in other places I just have no idea about UK shiping

Bijou, keep in mind that brake lines *should* be double flared for safety. A simple flaring too won't do that.
If you prepare the tubing before hand, (bends, cut to length) you can take it to an automotive shop to flare for you, then install it yourself. Don't forget to slide the threaded fittings on first.

Forget flaring it yourself.
A good autoparts store will have a rack full of various length pre made lines with fittings.
All you have to do is pick the right one, bend it a bit to suit and install.

I suspect that if you do not double flare or inverted flare the brake pipes that you will have a leak. The size you probably have is 3/16" or possibly (I doubt it) 1/4" lines. As for flaring the pipe yourself, it does take some practice or you can crack the pipe at the flare. Check eBay, a local parts store or a full-line professional tool source, do you have Snap-On Tools in the United Kingdom?

As for using pre-made sticks of braek pipe, I discourage it. Yes it is easier, but you have to "stretch" the pipe to fit by not bending or over bending and that just makes for a sloppy and potentially dangerous installation.

If you can get a set of replacement factory-bent pipes I would go that way instead of making your own. Also replace all pipes, not just the one failed right now, the rest will give you headaches in the near future.

When it comes to bleeding the system, MityVac makes a nice vacuum pump that makes the job easy. Just remove the bleeder screws, apply anti-seize and reinstall. The anti-seize acts as a seal around the threads when you apply vacuum to bleed the fluid.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I am having a mechanic to change the complete circuit, cost is quite reasonable and its not worth buying tools to do it myself.

You won't be disappointed, if the mechanic is competent. The savings of money isn't necessarily worth the hassles of doing the job yourself.
