'03 Yamaha F-225...

Has recently lost almost all pee stream, and about 1/2 water pressure (per guage)at idle or speed. Long time idleing in gear causes alarm to sound. Raising idle speed will cause alarm to quit. Motor is saltwater only with about 379 hrs. Not always flushed.

Have replaced water pump, t-stats (one stuck open), checked p/u screens, pressure regulator valve seems OK, really strong spring (kinda hard to push, but will move).

Has anyone worked on or had to flush the fuel cooler in the vapor seperator? Any tips?

try replacing the pressure control valve assy. they do fail occasionally. the fuel cooler wont affect water pressure and continued running with no tell tale can lead to a roasted voltage regulator. those motors dont run much water pressure at idle to start with.

Re: F-225 weak pee stream?

That was quick!

Thanks...

Is there any way to check the water pressure regulator? I don't mind buying one, nothing is "in stock" in my area and I would like to work on the motor some tommorrow. I can see no way to dis-assemble it without destroying. Again, I can push against the plunger sticking out of the bottom against spring pressure, but it takes some effort.

Per your advice, I,ll leave the fuel cooler alone.

no way that I know of to test the pressure control. its about 30 dollars and a pain to access but it is what it is.
