F150 4-Stroke EFI Fogging Question

Hello! I spoke with Yamaha today and they suggested that I use the EFI Fogging Oil (the type you mix with gas) and run it through my motor as opposed to using any kind of fogging spray. I was told it is as simple as hooking a small, portable gas tank to the fuel/water separator and running the motor for a few... Unfortunately, I do not believe that my 2005 Ranger Reata 1850VS came with a fule/water separator....

Looking at how the fuel lines from the F150 and 9hp kicker are rigged, it appears that both motor's fuel lines "T" into a feed straight from the tank. Now, I like the idea of running some fooging oil/gas mixture through the motor as opposed to spraying anything into the spark plug holes and intake, but I do not see how I can make this a simple venture.

Any suggestions???

Thank you!

First you should be using a water separator on that setup. You didn’t mention it but if you need to stabilize the fuel also. I use the same method but with 2 cycle oil you will need to run the engine about 20 minutes for fuel to run through the VST or just drain the VST and pump fuel in with the primer bulb less idle time I mix up a one gallon mix when I do mine takes about 7/8 to do the job. Just remove your main line at the tee and tie in there.

I would be speaking with whoever rigged the boat being Yamaha requires all EFI engines have a 10 micron filter installed between the tank and engine.

I called Yamaha today and they did suggest that I install a fuel/water separator. I bought the boat used, but it was rigged at Cabela's in Michigan. Not too many guys aruond here (boats old or new) have separators... Not sure why, just dont. How imparitive is it? The CS guys at Yamaha today said the motor's fule filter has some ability to separate the water from the fuel as well. Is the water in the fuel or is the water problem an issue with water leaking into the tank?

Thanks!

Mix up a gallon or so of gas, fogging oil and some type of gas stabilizer. Pull the hose off your gas tank or as soon as you can after it leaves the gas tank and just stick the hose into the gallon jug you just made up. Start your engine and run it for a while so the gas in the jug goes through it. Easy as that. I winterize that way every year.
