Tired of F75 flopin around and breaking transom savers while trailering. Is there any way to retrofit single cable Teleflex Safe T Steering to make it anti-feedback style?

depends on what brand and type you have now.
yamaha did NOT make the steering so its not going to be found in any yamaha references.

So, from what you have described, you already have a standard Teleflex steering system already?
I believe (depending on how old it is) you can add just the AFB helm and connect your existing cable to it.
If unsure, contact Teleflex customer service to check for compatibility. They were helpful to me when I had a question about throttle/shift cables.
You may want to price out a complete kit and compare prices to just getting the helm.
If you are wrestling with your wheel to turn your boat, you may consider switching to the 4 to 1 instead of the 3 to 1 (made a BIG difference on my 115 4 stroke.)

One drawback to relying on the AFB to hold the motor centered while trailering (for myself) is I think that my cable got stretched from all the pressure that the motor exerts on the cable. Got to my destination a few times and the motor was off center
Your results my be different depending on your set-up.


This what I eventually did to hold the motor centered while trailering
Custom made a SS bracket that swivels up to lock it in place with a spring loaded pin
Bolted onto the holes where the hydraulic steering would bolt to

Pull the pin and swing it down once I get to my destination to steer the boat

Don't ask where you can get one because it is one of a kind as far as I know.
Someone should start manufacturing these. There may be a decent market for them.

Ok, I'll give Teleflex a holler and see what they say. I have no problem with steering effort, just gotta tame this motor from floppin around while goin down the road.

I was going to suggest something like what you've done.
That doesn't keep it centered?
Might want to use a metal pipe that won't flex

if you have the single ram tilt set up you MUST support the engine while trailering or be ready to drop about 1200 dollars repairing the cylinder.

Yes, motor will stay centered since the length of the pvc pipe doesn't change.
I chose pvc so not to scratch things up, but it does flex a bit. May run a dow rod thru and re drill.
I know one thing, without "no feedback" steering you must stabilize that motor somehow while trailering.
Pretty sure I can replace my helm w/ the NFB model. Waitin for Teleflex to write back.

I use the largest Transom Saver model they make but that alone won't keep the F75 from flopin around side to side. Broke one transom saver so far due to this. NFB steering will help and a stabilizer bracket help more.
Just can't believe this boat (G3) came without NFB.
