Fishing a couple of years ago, using the ole purple plastic worm.
Got one whopper of a hit, not that little tap-tap stuff. Missed him and brought back a hook and just enough of an 8" worm to hide that hook.
Thought it was a gar.
About an hour later, several hundred yards away, I set the hook on a little 2lb'er. I'd only had one prior nibble the whole day and was about to give up on purple worms when I looked down his throat just to see what the bass were feeding on.

Purple Plastic worms......

(now, everybody contribute)

Re: Fact or Fiction

4 weeks ago I hired a guide and went barramundi fishing. He supplied everything, we were trolling most of the time but every now and again we would stop and jig.

While trolling a 8" lure (don't know what it was, the guide supplied it) I got an almighty hit, just one. I looked back just in time to see a barra breach and shack it's head twice - then it was gone and my line was slack.

I retrieved the lure, one of the triples was straight, all three hooks were not hooked shape anymore.

The only fish I caught for the day was a 45Lber, the guide estimated the lost monster to be around 60lbs.
Aldo

Re: Fact or Fiction

True story, saltwater, but true. Small charter to Catalina Island out of San Pedro (LA). Big bucket of Kentucky fried chicken. I was munching on deck and throwing the bones over and some guys were gettin' on me . . . Anyway, my FIL caught about a 30 lb Black Sea Bass. Protected fish, very rare. He won the jackpot on it. While he's pulling it up to the boat this thing is hackin' up, you guessed it, chicken bones. :D
