Thought this was interesting. My 21 year old Ranger originally had two transducers in the bilge--one for a flasher and one for a FF (not sure what kind). Well when I got the boat the units those ducers were for didn't work but no big deal--I put new stuff on it. Well first--the old ducers are in place for life. the second is the placement. originally the old units would read at speed (60+MPH). When I mounted my first ducer (have mounted 3 fince I have owned the boat) anything over 40mph it would loose depth. Well I did some rearranging in the bilge so I could mount a ducer for another new unit right up against the old original ducers--and to my amazement I get all readings (even down imaging) at speed. Only thing I can think of to explain this is the location right to left and front to back (mounted on the port side and parallel to the old ducers) My other ducers have been mounted on the starboard side due to previous space requirements. I just thought this was an interesting discovery.
