Hi all. I have a 1995 175 Ocean Pro Model No. E175EXEOM. My understanding of the recirculation system is that fuel/oil is routed from the exterior cylinder fitting (near the piston) to the exterior fitting and check valve (Part No. 435681), then routed through the intake manifold assembly (Part No. 433241) through the eight check valves (Part No. 437773) to the carburetors.

Step 3, bullet item 1 from the factory repair manual (see attached) indicates that flow through Part No. 435681 should be in the direction of intake manifold towards piston (bow to aft). Step 4, bullet item 1 indicates that flow through Part No. 437773 should be in the direction piston to intake manifold (aft to bow). The existing check valves (Part No. 435681 and 437773) match the configuration shown in the repair manual.

Logic tells me to follow the shop manual given the existing check valves match. However, This doesn't make sense to me unless fuel/oil is routed through the intake manifold assembly or the throttle body assembly (Part No. 436848) to each check valve, then a portion of the fuel/oil is routed through Part No. 437773 to the carburetors, and the remaining portion is routed towards the pistons through Part No 435681.

I appreciate any help you all can give me on this. I'll attach pictures after my 3rd post. Thank you in advance!

Factory manual is correct.----Your understanding may well be wrong.

Whichever way you can blow thru the check valve is the direction of the flow... test it!

If you can blow both ways... replace it.
