Faint Ticking with Key

Sorry for all the questions. I just got this boat and don't now much about all the little things yet. Its a 1995 evinrude 175hp. When I put the key in and turn it on (not cranking it) I hear a real faint ticking coming from the controls. Does anyone have any idea what this might be, and should it be that faint? Just barley can hear it.

Does this boat have an hour meter? Some of them emit a clicking noise but it wouldn't come from the controls. There is an overheat/VRO alarm horn in the controls. Could be a problem with that system. Do you get a short beep when the key is turned on? If not, chances are there is a problem with the warning horn or its circuit.

For what it's worth, I'm in agreement with the above explanation.

No it doesn't have an hour meter. And the ticking is defiantly coming from the F N R controls. When you turn on the key I get the horn then the ticking starts.
