I have a Bayliner with a 2007 Mercruiser 305. About a month ago my temp gauge stopped working. I was able to get the gauge working by touching the sending unit connection to the engine. After that I started getting a temp reading of 215 to 225. Thinking that it was mechanical I have replaced the impeller, thermostat, sending unit and the gauge itself. I am still getting a higher than normal reading. I have direct connected a wire from the sending unit to the gauge and I am still getting a reading of about 205. I am out of ideas and help here please would be great! FYI is has always read in the 175 range.

Thanks,

Steve

Get yourself a Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser Targeting and shoot the thermostat housing. You will know then.
