Re: faster pontoon?

Depends on a few things. What year motor are you running. 5000 seems low and you may want to drop in pitch but again it depends on the recommended RPM for your motor. You also don't mention what your top speed is now. Do you have lifting strakes?

Most 24' toon I have seen with 150hp run between 32-38mph depending on weight and strakes.

Motor is a 92 johnson recommended wot 4500-5500. Outside pontoons have lifting strakes, top speed is around 40 mph.

And you want more?? It is what it is my friend. Is that speed by GPS? Be happy that you can hit 40mph. Brand new Benny's with strakes and stainless props are getting 38-39mph with 150hp O/B

Damn if I was getting 40 I would be stoked...granted I have a 115 Mariner but still. Not many tritoons are going to run to much faster.....maybe think about trading yours in for a Deck Boat if you need that much more speed. Are you wanting to get from A to Z quicker or skiing?

Re: faster pontoon?

I disagree with that. If you want more speed you need more HP. I know a guy with a 27' Playcraft running twin built VMAX outboards pushing 684hp and 81.8mph. (For Sale)

26' TriToon loaded with a 225hp Honda pushing 46mph without strakes ect...

So to get more speed you have 2 choices.

1. Swap Motor
2. Swap Boat

You should be very happy with 40mph on a toon though. My 115hp tops at 29mph with 50 gals of fuel and just me on board. Add cooler, wife. 2 teens and 2 kids and she runs 27mph if I am lucky.

Im happy with 40mph, But im buying a new prop and didnt know if it'd be worth trying a different pitch. The boat takes off out the hole really well. Just feels like i could get a little more top end.

Going up in pitch will reduce your RPMs and going down will increase them. Average is about 400rpm. Lower pitch will get you better hole shot but you may sacrifice top end. Going up will take your rpms too low IMO.

What type of prop are you running now?

It's an aluminum 15x17, I don't know how much cup or rake. The end of last summer i ran it into a sand bar, it's in pretty bad shape. Thinkin about upgrading to a viper SS.

If you are going to stay with Aluminum I highly recommend the Turning point Hustler but stick with your current pitch IMO.
